Familiar names include orange jasmine, orange jessamine, china box, or mock orange. It grows in the rainforests as an understory shrub. It can grow in a wide range of soils and is also a very fragrant tree. This tall variety can grow to around 40 feet from a trunk with smooth whitish bark. The pinnate leaves grow to around 6-7 inches long. The cream-white flowers bloom from June to March and are arranged in loose groups, sometimes 5-7 flowers gathered together on pedicels. The fruits turn bright red and are egg-shaped. Birds, bees, and butterflies are attracted to it. Zones 9-11GerminationSoak seeds for 12 hours in warm water.
