Delicious Tomato (Lycopersicon esceluntum) is an old Pennsylvania heirloom that is best known for being a giant beefsteak variety tomato. Also known to hold the Guiness World Record for largest tomato for an astonishing 28 years weighing 7.75 lbs.
It is the sole living representative of its genus. It was first described from Pliocene fossils (5 million years old), and only in 1946 did botanists discover that the species was still persisting in a small area of China.
Often so dense the entire tree appears white. Plant Type: Deciduous Fruiting Tree. Scarify: Soak in water for 24 hours. Family: Rosaceae. Prune as needed in winter. Adaptable to a wide range of soil conditions including heavy clays.
