Cannas are heat-loving plants and will not grow in cold soil. In northern areas this will be late May to early June.Cannas thrive in hot, humid weather. Peat moss that is too wet will encourage either premature growth or rot.
There’s practically no place you can’t grow these gorgeous plants — except in the cold! Far northern areas of the US may want to grow indoors in pots, since your ground may not warm up sufficiently.
