Plant the seeds directly outside in full sun. Best grown when planted in the spring. The roots have a smooth exterior and do not have a core. The soil only needs a moderate level of nitrogen, as too much nitrogen may cause forking.
Generally the best harvest period lasts about 3 weeks., 1/4- 1/2″ deep, in single rows 16-24″ apart. Thin young seedlings to 1-2″ apart, depending on root size desired. In addition to being a tasty treat to humans, they also make a healthy treat for pets.
