General Bittermelon Germination tips: - scarify seeds first, use nail clipper to clip off a tiny piece of the lower (fat) edge without damaging the zygote- soak seeds in 120F water for 15 minutes and stir gently occasionally, in order to wake up seeds from dormancy- optionally, you can soak seeds for another 8-12 hours in warm water (i.e. rest the container on heating mat)- use fine seed starter mix or promix, place seeds into cell packs, water it well, then rest the 1020 seedling tray onto heating mat set at 85F- most seeds should germinate within 5-7 days, but few laggers may take 3 weeks- use grow light to avoid legging seedling growth- seedlings are ready for transplant with 2-4 true leaves Direct outdoor sowing is not recommended unless outdoor nightly low is consistently above 60F.
