Carnival Hollyhock Mixture is a gorgeous blend of double, ruffled flowers, in a range of colors, such as red, yellow, pink & white. the bloom formation is much like that of a Carnation flower. The plants themselves reach a mature height of roughly 60 to 72 inches tall, displaying several blooms along their tall, erect stems. Carnival Hollyhock is known to attract an array of beneficial insects to the garden, such as butterflies, bumblebees, hummingbirds and honeybees as well. They are popularly grown in many cottage gardens and can be used along houses & fences, or as a backdrop plant due to its tall growth habit.Grown as a biennial flowering plant, Carnival Hollyhock Mixture will grow quickly, establishing a deep root system. The plants will then wilt on the surface due to the freezing temperatures of winter, later returning the following spring. Biennials such as this are known to flower the second year. You can however achieve blooms in the first growing season, if the plants are started early enough. Hollyhock plants are known to readily self seed, so they are often seen as a perennial flowering plant. The seeds can either be collected at the end of the season, when all of the blooms have dried out, or they can drop to the bare ground beneath.
