Grow your own sponges for bathing and doing dishes. They’re also edible if harvested early enough. Start like you would summer squash in terms of timing and provide a surface for it to climb. It will soon go crazy and give you flowers and fruits which when allowed to ripen will dry out to a brown color. Once they’re fully dry you can shake the fruit and hear the seeds inside. Peel the skin off and dump out the seeds and you’ve got a nice sponge for whatever you want.
