Common names are Texas bluebonnet or Texas lupine. It is a lupine species to Texas and the Mexican states of Coahuila, Tamaulipas, and Nuevo León. It is the state flower of Texas. Emerging in the Fall, the bluebonnets shoot up in the Spring to a foot tall. The flowers are blue and white, but sometimes you can spot a tinge of pink. This one can grow in most soils with good drainage. A full sun lover for sure. Annual Germination Rub seeds on sandpaper to break the outer layer of the seeds. Soak seeds 24 hours. Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-30 days.
